Trevor Wikre broke his pinkie, too, but he came to a different decision.
Trevor Wikre is playing right guard at Mesa State College, a Division II school. He broke his pinkie very severely in practice. The bone stuck out of his skin. At the hospital he was told that a surgery would be necessary to repair the bone and to reconstruct the ligaments. He would miss his senior year.
Trevor Wikre didn't want to end his football career due to a broken pinkie. So he asked the doctors to cut off his finger. And they did.
Trevor Wikre sacrificed his pinkie to play his final season, because he loves football and he didn't want to let down his team.
